2nd Annual Donnie Woods Flounder Tournament

On Saturday September 18th, Johnnie Mercers Pier will be hosting the 2nd Annual Donnie Wood Memorial “catch and release” Flounder Tournament. Anglers will fish in honor of a man who was a memorable and generous employee at Johnnie Mercers Pier for years, and we’ll be raising money for the Celebrate Recovery Outreach Association (CROA) in Wilmington, NC.
The tournament will start at 3pm and end at 6pm. There is a $10 entry fee per/rod. Fifty percent of the entry fee will be donated to the CROA and fifty percent paid out for the three heaviest Flounder. Anglers can only win prize money in one of the three placements (1st, 2nd, or 3rd). The prize money will be awarded as follows: 1st place = 50%, 2nd place = 30% and 3rd place = 20%. Light food and drinks will be provided and there will be door prizes.
As a bonus, anyone who catches a JMP record Flounder will receive a 2022 annual pier pass.
We are doing this as a tribute to Donnie and hopefully catch a bunch of Flounder while having a great time in his honor. Fishing was always part of Donnie’s life, especially Founder.
