Annual Donnie Woods "catch and release" Flounder Tournament
Anglers fish in memory of a man who was a valued employee and cherished friend of those who worked and fished at Johnnie Mercers Fishing Pier. Monies raised through the tournament will be donated to charities that support a cause near and dear to Donnie’s heart; recovering addicts. Donnie was a recovering alcoholic for over 30 years, and worked tirelessly to help those in need. Fifty percent of the entry fee will be donated to a local charity and Fifty percent will be paid out for the three heaviest Flounder. This tournament is held every year as a reminder of Donnie’s spirit, and compassion for those going through what he went through, along with his love of fishing. Fishing was always part of Donnie’s life, especially FLOUNDER fishing.
