Johnnie Mercers Fishing Pier

The first concrete fishing pier in the state of North Carolina, located in the heart of Wrightsville Beach, extends more than 1200 feet into the Atlantic Ocean. The pier was rebuilt after the hurricanes of 1996, Bertha and Fran, caused extensive damange to the original wooden pier.  Bob and Shirley Johnson, along with their son, Matthew, took on the monumental task of building this state of the art concrete pier, reopening its doors in 2001.  Johnnie Mercers Pier is a must see for anyone visiting the Wrightsville Beach/ Wilmington area.  Come join us for a walk out on the pier and enjoy the calming sounds of the ocean while relaxing in the breathtaking views, especially at sunrise and sunset.

Johnnie Mercers Fishing Pier offers amazing fishing year round with a full service tackle shop with a wide selection of rods and reels, along with bait/lures to meet all of your fishing needs.  We also offer rental rods to those who want to try their hand at fishing and don’t have a rod with them.  Our knowledgable staff will gladly assist you in any way possible to help make your fishing experience a memorable one with us.  For the kids, don’t forget to get an offical certificate making them certified anglers at Johnnie Mercers Pier when they catch their first fish!

Inside the pier house you will find a delicious grill that is open spring through late fall serving up your favorite such as burgers, fries, pizza, and more.

When visiting with us, be sure to visit our unique gift shop conveniently located in the pier house. This is an ideal place to find items to help make your day on the beach an enjoyable one.  We also offer a wide selection of clothing for men, women, and kids alike.  Here you can find beautiful dresses, pants, shorts, tops, sweats, tees, gift items, souveniers, and more.  Plus we are now an official supplier of INIS and California Mango products.

As a bonus, we also offer a wide selection of imports, domestics, IPA’s, and more to enjoy while strolling out on the pier and enjoying our amazing views.

star rating  Pier is worth a visit, but it is ridiculous to charge $ just to walk on it. Shop is the usual tourist trap.

Interesting place. Long pier with great viewers of the Wrightsville Beach coast. Costs you $2 bucks to get on it, but it's kinda cool. Also, there's some serious fishing going on here. Worth the 2 dollars.
